Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has proven that it can go head to head with seasoned tech giants like Apple and Samsung when it comes to bringing the best handsets to the field. Now, the company is looking to show that it can further outstrip those two with a new premium smartphone.

Rumor has it that the tech firm is already working on the Xiaomi Mi 5, which leaks brand as the finest, top-of-the-line offering from the company yet. Xiaomi will go all out with the device, with redoubtable specs and features, giving its competitors a run for their money.

The device is said to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Today's handsets have the 810 unit, the latest one available. One can imagine the power the smartphone will have with the next generation of processor powering it up. Add to that a hefty 4 GB RAM, which would make the device ultra-snappy.

The processor, apart from making the device radically fast, will also make it more impressively resistant to dust and water, thanks to ultrasound technology. With this advancement, Xiaomi won't need to put a capacitive sensor or a physical button to the smartphone.

This under-the-hood combo, without doubt, promises no lags, freezes, or crashing. The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be able to tackle heavy gaming, even ones with high graphical quality, allowing users to play smoothly and without stutter. Storage options range from 16 GB to 64 GB and the OS will be Android Lollipop. It is also rumored that the device will make use of a USB-Type C connector. It is said to come with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display as well and it will be very thin, too, measuring 5.1 mm. On the imaging side is a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be officially released in November this year and Xiaomi might also introduce a bigger brother that the Internet calls Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus.
