While fans expect the next-gen consoles to be the PS5 and Xbox Two, the rumored new systems are not coming soon. For now, it seems that both Sony and Microsoft are content with upgrading the hardware of their current-gen consoles.

Speculations suggest that Microsoft is thinking of going head-to-head with Sony's rumored PS4K with their own upgraded Xbox One, to be revealed at the E3 2016.

According to industry observer Brad Sams, Microsoft will be revealing new hardware at this year's E3. Topping the list is a new Xbox One standard controller, with upgraded features and specs. In addition, it will reportedly ship out in a new color, and a white variant is certainly plausible.

Although it is unclear, Sams also alluded to a new upgraded Xbox One hardware that may get revealed at the E3. The industry follower noted though that Microsoft has already revealed an Xbox One Elite bundle, and Sams is unsure whether the E3-related announcement is an upgrade over the Elite package, or something else entirely. A refreshed Xbox One being revealed at the event is possible, given that Microsoft will want to take on the challenge of Sony. Allegedly, Sony is coming out soon with an upgraded console, dubbed as the PS4K.

In terms of new consoles, Microsoft has released limited-edition exclusives in the past, though the consoles only got a tweak in their design. Just recently, Microsoft partnered with Disney to come out with a limited-edition "Iron Man" Xbox One. The exclusive console is an offering to celebrate "Captain America: Civil War."

The white Microsoft console has an arc-reactor top plate, and the tweaks and design are consistent with how Tony Stark would've designed the Xbox One. However, being a limited-edition piece, a limited number of consoles is available. So far, only Xbox France is giving away the console system as a prize. It is unclear if the exclusive will make it to other markets.
