When Microsoft launched its backward compatibility program last year, some fans already had their preferred games to be included on the list, and at the top were the installments in the "Call of Duty" franchise. Now, fans can check out another triple-A classic, as it is confirmed that "Call of Duty: Black Ops" goes live as a backward-compatible game.

In an announcement posted on the Xbox Newswire, it is revealed that "Call of Duty: Black Ops" is now part of the growing list of backward-compatible games. This means that players who have the title in their game libraries can now load the game on their Xbox One. In addition, other features unique to backward-compatible games will also apply to the newest title. Aside from the achievements on the current-gen console, the post stated, "Best of all, you can keep all of your game saves, add-ons, and achievements, as well as play multiplayer with your friends across both Xbox One and Xbox 360."

Meanwhile, the announcement, while being a surprise treat from Microsoft, was expected by hardcore fans. In fact, fans have been waiting for some time now for the title to be added to the backwards compatibility program. Microsoft and Xbox previously announced that the game will be added to the list, along with other triple-A titles. With "Call of Duty: Black Ops" now going live as a backward-compatible title, fans can expect other major classics to follow soon. Microsoft has already confirmed that other titles will come to the program, classics such as "Skate 3," as well as the games under the "Bioshock" franchise. Prior to the announcement, a major classic that made it to the list was the original "Dark Souls," as part of a pre-order bonus for the launch of "Dark Souls III."

The announcement already has made its way across retailers, and current figures show the interest of the fans. According to Express, sales from the Amazon website have posted a 3,000 percent increase since the announcement came out.
