WWE rumors, news 2016: Randy Orton about to end Brock Lesnar's reign?

Randy Orton is not afraid of Brock Lesnar in their upcoming fight in WWE SummerSlam.WWE.com

As the WWE SummerSlam 2016 inches closer, Randy Orton seems to be the favored superstar to emerge victorious over Brock Lesnar at the main event.

As per Zap2it, a win for The Viper will also be a win for Smackdown. If one were to look at the formed Raw roster and compare it to the blue brand, the latter has a dominant lineup.

Included in this lineup is Lesnar, of course. Zap2it believes that Orton's victory will be a huge stepping stone to ultimately get Smackdown off the ground.

A win for Orton is not expected to have a huge impact Raw as well since Lesnar, being the part-time WWE wrestler that he is, will likely be gone a while.

The Beast has only been making intermittent appearances in WWE. In the last three years, Lesnar has rarely been in the ring. He raked in 16 wins and only six losses.

Lesnar has clearly been groomed by WWE as an unbeatable monster with everyone in his way even The Undertaker falling short of bringing him down.

But in light of Lesnar's recent failed drug test at UFC, Bleacher Report says that Lesnar was a beast no more but a human. The publication believes it is about time he tasted defeat again.

The site believes that while WWE is unlikely to base the outcome of the WWE SummerSlam 2016 main event on Lesnar's doping violation, the fact that fans know should make Orton deserving of a win.

Fans will remember that The Viper called out his SummerSlam opponent for his failed drug test, teasing that he won't need any "enhancement" to beat Lesnar. Perhaps, SummerSlam might see this come to fruition.

A SummerSlam victory will also make Orton one of the top guys in Smackdown, and even in the entirety of WWE, considering the superstars that have fallen at the hands of The Beast – from The Undertaker to John Cena to Dean Ambrose.

Is Lesnar's WWE domination in its twilight? Fans will learn on Sunday, Aug. 21 at WWE SummerSlam 2016.
