A woman who was warned by doctors she would have little chance of conceiving without IVF has given birth to a miracle baby girl.

Jane Woodhead was given the difficult news after a hospital scan revealed she has two wombs and two cervixes, a condition called uterus didelphys, WalesOnline reports.

But she got the surprise of her life when just one week before her first IVF appointment she reported to her doctor because she was feeling unwell, only to discover she was seven weeks pregnant.

It was the news she never thought she would receive and so convinced was she that she would never be able to have a baby, she had even gone out and bought a puppy.

"What worried me the most [about having uterus didelphys] was that I wondered if I'd ever be able to become a mum as they told me my chances of getting pregnant would be slim," Jane told WalesOnline.

"I certainly didn't think it would be possible naturally."

But the birth of Grace Violet Herridge three months ago changed all that, arriving 11 days after her 40th birthday.

"[She] was the best 40th birthday present I could ever have asked for or dreamed of," she said.

"She's my little miracle. I still stare at her for hours even now 12 weeks after she was born and can't believe she is really mine.

"She's doing so well and is such a lovely little thing even though she likes to sleep a lot during the day and wake up every two hours at night."

The pregnancy was tense because of her medical condition and she had 17 scans in 39 weeks because of the risks.

She said she and partner Paul Herridge felt "very, very blessed to have her" and still can't believe they were just a week away from starting the difficult process of IVF when she received the news about baby Grace.

"She really is my amazing Grace … She is our lovely, beautiful miracle," she said.
