Woman attacked by bear says Jesus spoke to her, gave her peace while her head was in bear's mouth
Florida woman never believed she was going to die.
A Florida woman who survived a bear attack says that Jesus "literally" spoke to her and gave her peace during the assault.
Terri Frana of Lake Mary, Florida was in her garage when she noticed five bears digging through her trash. One of the bears noticed her too.
"I saw this large bear charging at me," Frana recounted to WESH Orlando, "so I turned and started to run and she must have turned and stood on her hind legs and pushed me down, because I've got both her paw claw marks on my neck all the way down to my waist. I could just hear her teeth marks going through my scalp."
"The bear actually had my wife's head in its mouth and started to drag her toward the woods," Frana's husband, Frank, added. "The bear's jaws let her head loose then it started on her arms."
While her head was in the bear's mouth, the 44-year old Frana began to pray.
"I just thought 'God, please, this can't be the end. It can't end like this.'
"I literally heard Jesus say to me, 'It's OK, you will be at peace with us.'
"I replied, 'Please, my kids need me.'
"Then the bear released my head. She let go of my head and I knew I had to get up off that ground and get away, otherwise I was not going to make it."
Frana ran inside her home, where her husband and son found her crying on the floor. She received 30 staples and 10 stitches in her scalp.
Following Frana's attack by the 200-pound black bear, four bears have been killed by Florida Fish and Wildlife. One of the bears exhibited aggressive behavior, while the other three showed no fear of humans. Traps have also been set up around the Frana's home.
Considering the gravity of the bear attack, Mr. Frana says his wife is doing surprisingly well.
"She's incredibly OK," he told the Orlando Sentinel. "It's amazing."
