Very soon, Windows users will be able to let go of the current Windows 8 as reports have surfaced that the consumer preview of its successor, Windows 10, will roll out in January 2015. 

According to reports, the Windows 10 Consumer Preview will be unveiled in January next year loaded with several new features. Moreover, Chinese website IT Home allegedly found leaks of the early versions of the Windows 10 Consumer Preview with version number 9888. 

The Verge has reported that the consumer preview will not take place at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 but rather in a separate press event. At any rate, Microsoft will still participate in the tech event to show off new products and devices. And while Microsoft is keen on unveiling the preview early next year, the OS is still under development and the final product may not see the light of the day until late 2015. 

Meanwhile, Microsoft just rolled out the technical preview of Windows 10 for testing and scrutiny. People who participated in the Windows Insider Program can provide feedback regarding the upcoming operating system. This will help developers to comb out the bugs and issues prior to its official release. 

"As an Insider, you can provide feedback directly to our engineers by using the Windows Feedback app which is part of the Tech Preview download. Simply search for 'Windows Feedback' from the search box," Gabe Aul, the Engineering General Manager for the Operating Systems Group at Microsoft, told participants thru email. 

One of the main features of the new Windows 10 operating system is that it will be a unified, cross-platform OS and it will work across PCs, smartphones, tablets, and wearables. There are reports saying that Windows 10 will be a fusion of the Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
