Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson is proving that he has a charitable heart after he pledged $2,500 to the Catholic High School's canned food drive.

"I just wrote a check for $2500 to the Baton Rouge Food Bank in support of Catholic High @CHS_BR for Challenge Day! #BoysCAN #WeAllCAN," he wrote in his Twitter account (@williebosshog).

Catholic High School and St Joseph Academy in Baton Rouge have a friendly boys versus girls competition on for who can collect the most donations for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, NOLA reports.

The girls from St Joseph Academy have been tweeting celebrities and seeking support for the food drive, and they zeroed in on popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. DeGeneres replied to them with a tweet from her account (@TheEllenShow), "Sending support to the girls at St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge collecting cans for the homeless. You go girls! #GirlsCAN"

For his part, Paisley tweeted on his account (@BradPaisley) that "Theyre crushin' it."

It is uncertain though whether or not DeGeneres or Paisley did more than just tweet their support and donate to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

Willie is one of the stars of the hit A&E television show Duck Dynasty, which is the inspiration for the new Duck Commander musical, which will have its premiere on April 15 at the Crown Theater inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Ticket prices for the musical range from $49 to $125 plus. It will feature music and lyrics by Robert Morris, Steven Morris and Joe Shane. It is written by Asa Somers, and is directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun and Bryan Bradford.

Willie earlier told Fox News that the musical will highlight the Robertson family's love for each other and faith in God.

"It's about all these decisions we had to make in our life and overcoming and ending up being on TV and all that. It's a great story and it's pretty powerful," he said.
