Newsboys frontman Michael Tait, who is also a graduate of Liberty University, is supporting Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz for the White House.

He told Fox news columnist Todd Starnes in his podcast that he has been following Cruz's campaign trail "for a while now," adding that his message is the one that he is most "used to" and one that he "believes in."

"I saw him, his family, the way he talked to people in person. I saw his drive, his hunger for solid principles, solid ideas going forward in our country that, even as an African-American, if you want to get really technical about it, I support 100 percent," Tait said.

He took a swipe at Cruz's opponent Donald Trump, saying it is Cruz's leadership skills that will "make this country great again."

Just like what Reverend Franklin Graham is now promoting to all Americans through his Decision America Tour, Tait said that Christians should get involved in the upcoming presidential elections and vote.

"People of faith should vote for a man they believe in," Tait said. "A man they feel can do the job, not falter, not say one thing before the election and do another whole thing after the election, a man that stands his ground, keeps his word, protects our freedom — that's who you should vote for."

A lot of people have been endorsing Cruz as their president, from "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson to Bishop E.W. Jackson of the African-American Fall Church.

"It is absolutely essential and urgent that we elect a godly President who reveres our Constitution, honours our Judeo-Christian values and respects the freedom of the American people. After eight years of 'fundamental transformation,' we need a leader who will dedicate himself to restoring the fundamentals of America. I urge every American, especially Christian, to elect Ted Cruz as the next President of the United States," Jackson said in a statement to Conservative HQ.
