Today's world bombards us with the idea that we're not good enough. Apparently, some of us don't notice it, but we're already affected.

Whatever way the world does it, all of the bombardment shows us that we should have what's "in" or "hot" in culture. TV commercials and shows, billboards, mall posters and movies all show us what's "in." We're all shown that we don't have what others have.

But we shouldn't even be affected by it.

Why we should celebrate our uniqueness

Truth be told, brothers and sisters, we should not feel even the slightest amount of envy or covetousness when we see these things on TV and in other media. Why? It's because God made us perfectly. Thus, we don't need to feel insecure or inadequate about how we look or what features we have.

David said in Psalm 139:14, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well." 

We should have this declaration in our hearts, too.

Our bodies are wonderfully made

Think about how you were made. Genesis records that all men are made from dust. But just take a look at how marvelous our bodies are. The inner parts of our bodies are just amazingly designed to be self-sufficient. I'm not an anatomy expert, but I know that our bodies possess the ability to maintain and heal itself.

Think about how our heart pumps blood through our blood vessels that stretch over long distances. Think about how our stomach digests the food we eat, extracting all the nutrients it can get. Think about how our blood rushes to form clots over small nicks and wounds, perfectly sealing them and preventing more blood from gushing out.

You're an original

And fellow believers, think about how unique you are! Science tells us that there's no other fingerprint like yours, and that your DNA is different from another's. The unique combination of our physical, emotional and mental characteristics all make us uniquely different from one another.

God made us all unique, and we should enjoy it. He made me different from you and others, and vice-versa. Why? It's because He's that creative. All that He makes are marvelous and wonderful.

"My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You." (Psalms 139:15-18)
