Derick Dillard says he can relate more to Jesus's teaching on suffering and joy after birth of Israel David

What Bible verse did Derick Dillard think about while Jill was in labor?(Facebook/Duggar Family Official)

There was one particular Bible verse that stood out for Derick Dillard as his wife Jill of 19 Kids and Counting was in labour, and he said that he came to appreciate its meaning more during that time.

He shared this information on his Instagram account (@derickdillard) as he posted a photo of his new family while still in the hospital. The Bible verse he was referring to is John 16:21 and it says: "When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world."

Derick saw for himself the hardships endured by Jill as she was giving birth, and so he understood this immediate shift of emotions.

"I feel like I can relate to this verse just a little better now after being with my wife in labour, but then experiencing the joy of our son!" he wrote beside the photo. "This life is difficult, but it's only for a moment, and joy comes in the morning."

The joy the Dillard couple are feeling since the arrival of their son Israel David is quite evident, and they cannot help but gush about their little man. Despite having no experience dealing with babies, Derick immediately warmed up to caring for his son and Jill says he is already amazing at being a dad.

"The last week has been filled with fun times... and a little less sleep," admitted Derick.

Moreover, the couple are now settling back at home after the birth of Israel David, and they are thanking their families, friends, and fans for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this momentous occasion.
