There are times in our lives when we see apparently crooked people hit it better in life than we do. Is it fair for people who are known to be corrupt to have luxurious cars, big houses and fine clothes while many good hard-working Christians don't have any of these? Think about it.

Truth be told, brothers and sisters, we will feel this way when we see our enemies become more 'blessed' than we are even though we are doing what is good and godly. This happens in situations like when you are trying to be as truthful and honest as you can, but the one who deceives others gets away with his sin. Or when you innocently shared what you had with someone who looked like he needed help but who later turned out to be deceitfully better off than you were at the time you did the good thing to that person.

Some of us who have seen this "injustice" probably lost the heart to be kind and good.

But take heart, friends, because nothing goes over God's head.

God sees it all

The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:45 that "[God] makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust," and wants us to love the "bad" people we know of and pray for them just the same.

Why? If God Himself, who sees all wrongdoing and injustice being done on earth, continues to give good things to both the good and the evil, then who are we to withhold it? After all, we are God's children – and we should strive to be like our God.

The Bible says that there will be a time for reckoning. God will judge both the wicked and the righteous at the right time (see Ecclesiastes 3:17). Nothing will escape His righteous judgment, even those who are made righteous in Christ but still lived wickedly as if they did not experience God's grace.

What to do when the wicked appear more prosperous than you

So what do we do when the wicked appear to be more blessed than us who are "children of God?" Psalm 37:1-7 gives us the perfect answer: Fret not, trust in and delight in the Lord, and do good.

"Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass."
