Week of prayer for social action projects

Anglicans and Catholics are being asked to pray for their local churches as they continue to serve the needs of their communities.

Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, and Cardinal Vincent Nichols announced a joint week of prayer on Wednesday.

It will run from Passion Sunday on 6 April to Palm Sunday on 13 April, and people are being encouraged to tweet about what their churches are doing using the hashtag #Listen to God.

The two Church leaders will be fully involved in the initiative, giving thanks each day to God for this essential act of service, and praying for his blessing on the work of the churches.

They hope the week of prayer will strengthen the work that is already being done by churches to strengthen their communities and support those in need.

During the week, they will be visiting church projects to see first hand the difference that is being made.
