The second season of "True Detective" is set to hit the small screens in January and will include some new cast members playing the lead roles.

The most recent reports claimed that the first draft of the script for the much awaited season 2 of "True Detective" leaked and hinted some of the things that waiting fans should watch out for in the upcoming sequel of the hit TV series. According to The Wrap, the new season will include a single male lead and two supporting male and female characters.

"#True Detective Twitter EXCLU: The 1st script for the 2nd season is IN & agency sources tell us it features one MALE lead & male/female co-stars," The Wrap reported.

This contradicts the previous comments of show creator Nic Pizzolatto, who claimed that the "True Detective" season 2 will feature three lead characters.

Various names were brought up resulting to a circus of possible actors taking on the roles. Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain are only some of the actors speculated to join the cast next season. Earlier reports claimed that Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) was offered a lead character in the second season of "True Detective", but other reports stated that Jessica Chastain was cast to be one of the female leads next season.

However, showrunner Nic Pizzolatto neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. "I've talked to one person about it, possibly, and that has been it. We haven't cast anybody. I have a secret list and that's it. There is a strong (lead) female character," said Pizzolatto, adding, "But I wouldn't say it is female-led or anything like that," he said.

Although the leaked script did not confirm anything, it means that the production is on the roll and the new season will hit the TV screens soon.

"True Detective" season 2 is expected to have a release date on HBO in January 2015.
