Highly-acclaimed film director/ producer/ screenwriter Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight trilogy, Inception) is making huge waves once again as moviegoers eagerly await the release of his latest film, "Interstellar."

The science fiction film is expected to draw in huge crowds, which is why there are speculations that big titles will be attaching themselves to the movie, including "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Terminator: Genisys." It is said that these upcoming films will show their initial trailers during the premiere of "Interstellar."

But while most everyone is familiar with the characters and background of both the Avengers and the Terminator, not many know what "Interstellar" is about, since it has no prequel or print counterpart.

Primarily, the movie is about an engineer (Matthew McConaughey) who is very close to his two motherless kids. But the world is in trouble, and scientists are finding a way – not to save the world but – to get people out of the world. He now has to choose between venturing out to another galaxy, which could potentially save mankind, or staying on Earth with his children.

"What we've already learned in the journey of making the film is it's really about human beings... what our place is in the universe," said the director during a panel interview at the Comic-Con held last July. "What we found is, the further you travel out in the universe, the more you realize it's all about what's in here..." pointing to his heart.

The premise of the story was conceived by theoretical physicist Kip Thorne together with film producer Lynda Obst, with writing credits going to the Nolan brothers, Jonathan and Christopher.

Aside from McConaughey, the movie also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Casey Affleck, among others. It will hit theaters on Nov. 7.
