Today, more than five million people across 58 developing countries benefit from the international fair trade system, Tearfund recently reported. Now more people will benefit as high street clothing brand Topshop works with People Tree, a fair trade fashion label, this March.

Building on the success of People Tree's concession in Topshop, launched last spring, People Tree will launch in Topshop during Fairtrade Fortnight.

A ground-breaking capsule collection will be featured, made from organic and Fairtrade certified cotton, designed in collaboration with Topshop and produced by the People Tree team and fair trade partners in India.

Six designs, which include tunics, bubble tops and racer-cut vests, will be launched 26 February at the start of Fairtrade Fortnight and will be available in 20 Topshop stores across the UK and from www.topshop.com.

The collaboration has been made possible through Topshop buyers committing last spring to the necessary cotton order. All People Tree organic cotton is grown to order, which eliminates wastage and ensures the producers receive a fair price.

People Tree works with 70 fair trade groups in 20 developing countries, helping people from some of the world's most marginalised communities use fair trade to escape from poverty.
