All of us might have felt some laziness, enough to hinder us from going to church. Although that's a good warning sign that tells us that there might be something wrong with us, we have to deal with it. Have you ever felt too lazy for church?

There are many reasons why people lose their drive to go to church. Some feel unwelcome, some feel like the relationships are superficial, and some feel like it's not family but rather a charity that keeps on asking for donations. Whatever the case, the point is we've likely lost the desire to worship together with others, and to have fellowship with them. We shouldn't stay this way!

Hebrews 10:23-25 encourages us, "Let us continue holding fast to the hope we acknowledge, without wavering; for the One who made the promise is trustworthy. And let us keep paying attention to one another, in order to spur each other on to love and good deeds, not neglecting our own congregational meetings, as some have made a practice of doing, but, rather, encouraging each other." We will do best to obey this word for us.

Do you feel like going to church has become a chore? Or do you feel too lazy to go to church? Here are some things that you can do to handle that, based on Hebrews 10:23-25.

1. Hold on to Christ

If the reason why we feel too lazy to go to church is because we doubt Christ and what He has done, then my friends, that is a serious problem. The solution? Continually "holding fast to the hope we acknowledge, without wavering."

2. Think of how to encourage or serve others

Friends, focusing on ourselves and our own issues or predicaments will never be helpful in pushing us closer to God. When we dwell in our church's failings, church mates' ramblings and complaints about the pastor, or in our own disappointments about the church, we will never find the strength to go there!

The best way to deal with this is to think of ways to encourage and serve one another. "Let us keep paying attention to one another, in order to spur each other on to love and good deeds..."

3. Congregate for the purpose of worshiping God together

When we think of church as some place where we will get encouragements or inspiration, we might end up in discouragement and frustration. The church shouldn't be seen as a run-to-place for an uplifting message. Rather, the church should be seen as the gathering of those who love God and would want to worship Him unabashedly. Just go there for only one person – God Himself.
