Ubisoft's has finally announced the release date for Tom Clancy's The Division, a multiplayer-based shooting game. According to the announcement last week from the developers during the E3 2015 conference, the game is set to arrive on March 8, 2016.

Initially, Ubisoft made an announcement that the game is a work in progress and will be available in 2014. However, the developers later admitted that it wouldn't be possible until 2015 — a date that was still considered to be too optimistic some.

It turned out that those doubters were right, as Ubisoft has now announced the official release date to be in 2016.

"Working on The Division is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of us at Massive, Reflections, and Red Storm Entertainment. We are creating something we are really proud of and we don't want to compromise on quality," said an announcement on the official website.

Ubisoft is confident that the game will be a hit, which is why there were several delays on its release. According to a statement to Digital Spy, Ubisoft wanted more time for the developers to "fully fulfil their creative vision", as they are optimistic about the potential of having a great game coming out.

Initially, the game was also announced that it features a companion app for tablet players. The companion app lets a person with a tablet help other players.

For instance, the app allows the player to control a drone and support other console players, according to the report from IGN.

However, it was confirmed by IGN news that the mobile companion app will be taken out of The Division because it caused an imbalance that has affected the overall gameplay.

Still, fans can now happily look out for the official release in 2016. Moreover, a beta version will become available in December 2015, giving fans the chance to try out the game before the release date.

The Division beta will be available first on Xbox One, according to IGN. The PS4 and PC version will be available early in 2016.
