Tim Tebow leads Eagles to victory in his first NFL game after two-year absence

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Tim Tebow (11) dives into the end zone past Indianapolis Colts free safety Winston Guy (27) to score a touchdown during the second half of a preseason NFL football game at Lincoln Financial Field on Aug. 16, 2015. The Eagles won 36-10.

Christian football star Tim Tebow is back playing the sport he loves for the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite a two-year absence from the sport, he restarted his football career by helping his team score a 36-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Sunday's pre-season game.

Tebow impressed the crowd when he threw for 69 yards on 6-of-12 passing and ran for a 7-yard touchdown, according to Christian Headlines.

He earlier received a standing ovation midway through the game's third quarter when he came to the field for the first time in his return to the NFL. He carried the ball four times for 15 yards.

"It was fun," Tebow said after the game. "Playing ball. I loved it. You want to be focused on footwork, reads, communication with everybody but also enjoy the moment. You won't always have it."

Tebow signed with the Eagles as a free agent in April after skipping last season.

Tebow said being given the opportunity to play in the National Football League (NFL) again is "a blessing and it's something I'm very thankful for."

Tebow is definitely on a roll. Not only did he help lead his team to victory in football, he also just celebrated his 28th birthday on Friday. The occasion also marked the fifth anniversary of his charity, the Tim Tebow Foundation, which he founded "to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need."

According to PEOPLE, the Tim Tebow Foundation honoured their five years of service by creating an eight-minute video that shared the stories and photos of Tebow with the children from all over the world whom he has helped.

The video begins and ends with the story of Flora Mae Manuel, one of the first patients of the Tebow CURE Hospital, a modern five-storey facility in Davao City, Philippines, which opened just last December.

"Being part of the Tim Tebow Foundation these past five years has been one of the greatest blessings of my life," Tebow said. "I am so humbled by the way God has blessed this foundation through the support of so many."

"In the past five years, I have laughed, I have cried and I have fallen in love over and over again with the children we are able to serve around the world," he added.
