Tim Tebow, former NFL star and now an outfielder for the New York Mets, cannot seem to shake off critical public scrutiny no matter what he does. He made a lot of his fans upset when he left football to pursue a new career in baseball.

But Tebow said he's happy with his decision, and he credits his confidence in Christ for helping him make that big move.

"When you're going through that, what do you have to hold onto?" Tebow asked in an interview with CBN News. "What is your foundation? Who are you? And more importantly, whose are you in your relationship with Christ?"

Personally, Tebow said he is a devout Christian who wants to pursue his dreams rather than live contentedly with the status quo of life.

"You know, I think that's something that's unfortunate in society is a lot of people just do what they feel like they should do and live with the status quo and go live by all these rules and 'Hey, this is going to be OK,'" he said. "You know, just go accept your average nine-to-five, rather than striving for something because the ultimate goal isn't to succeed or fail, the ultimate goal is to give it everything you have for something that's in your heart and a dream and pursuing that."

Tebow said he is grateful he got to pursue baseball "even if it's a long shot," and he has no regrets. "If you get to live out your dream every single day, then the result doesn't matter," he said.

After baseball, Tebow hinted that he might be interested in a political career. The Christian athlete told The New Yorker that he wants to do something where he can have the greatest impact and touch the lives of a lot of people.

"If one day that is the political realm, then that's something I'd consider. I wouldn't be doing it out of a passion for politics but out of a passion for people," he said.
