'Thor 3' movie to be filmed in Australia?

Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Company may be looking at a new location to film the third installment of the "Thor" franchise, and one place they are reportedly considering is Australia.

Marvel is no stranger to filming their movies somewhere other than the United States, as even one of their most recent hits, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," had several of its scenes take place in both South Africa and South Korea, according to Cinema Blend.

Even with the studio already having experience filming abroad, taking the third "Thor" film to Australia would still be quite the significant step, as they have not been there previously.

As for why Marvel and Disney are looking into possibly beginning filming for "Thor: Ragnarok" in Australia, one apparent reason is said to be the pleasant experience that Disney had while working on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales." According to an anonymous technical specialist who spoke with Yahoo! Australia, Disney bosses were reportedly so happy with the experience of filming in Australia, that they just decided it would also be a great setting for at least one of their upcoming Marvel projects.

If Marvel and Disney do indeed decide to push through with filming in the country, they would reportedly start shooting in Queensland by March of next year, according to the technical specialist.

Disney is also supposedly considering Australia not just for the location itself, but also because they view it as a less expensive alternative for filming purposes.

In related news, another Marvel movie supposedly set to film in Australia is "Captain Marvel," according to The BitBag.

There's also a lot of talk focusing on who might take on the role of "Captain Marvel," with the latest rumors suggesting that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is in the running.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
