Tension between Deputy Rick Grimes and Morgan Jones. The "death" of Sgt. Abraham Ford. A bolder plotline with more risks and surprise twists. These are some of the developments to look forward to when Season 6 of The Walking Dead begins airing on October 11, 2015. 

"I think the writing is getting stronger and stronger. I'm thrilled," actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Grimes in the American horror TV series, told Collider at the 41st Annual Saturn Awards, according to various entertainment news sources. "I thought that last season, Rick's journey was some of the finest and most complex that I've had to attempt. Scott (Gimple) and the writers' team are magnificent. As long as they're pushing us in the direction they're doing, I think we're gonna open up the world in a way we've never ever experienced before."

Asked about his character and Jones, played by Lennie James, Lincoln quipped: "There will be tension between these two characters, definitely." 

The sports and entertainment news website Fansided also reported the discovery of some set pictures and details hinting at the death of, or serious injury to, Ford. According to the website, the character atttempts to climb a fence hanging off a bridge and tries to pull a rocket-propelled grenade off the back of a zombie. In the ensuing struggle, Ford screams and collapses, hands and arms within the zombie's reach.

Gregory Nicotero, co-executive producer, special makeup effects supervisor and occasional director of the hit TV series, reportedly told fans at the Saturn Awards that "very, very bold moves" that would push the boundaries much farther than before would characterize Season 6 of the zombie show.

Nicotero was quoted as saying the cast and crew were looking forward to making the most of the freedom they now have to make things as hard-hitting as they wanted them to be, with no interference from AMC, the parent network.
