'Walking Dead' season 6 spoilers: Negan's first major kill hinted by Greg Nicotero

Valentine's Day will be bloody for zombie fans. There are rumors saying there will be a slew of deaths taking place when "The Walking Dead" season 6 returns.

In fact, the latter half of the season will not waste a second in putting the survivors in far more horrifying situations.

The body count in the first half of the season will allegedly be equivalent to the stack of dead bodies by the end of the midseason premiere. Executive producer Greg Nicotero described the rest of the season as "relentless" and "heartbreaking" during an interview with Empire (via Comic Book Resources).

[Spoiler Alert!] In the midseason finale of "The Walking Dead" season 6, the name of the dreaded comic book villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was finally mentioned. As comic book fans know, Negan's presence equates to a lot of deaths, including that of Glenn's.

When Glenn was, for a while, presumed dead during the first half of the season, fans did not entirely believe that they lost him to the pool of ravaging walkers. Indeed, he was very much alive and it is believed that his death will, after all, come in the hands of Negan.

In the comic books created by Robert Kirkman, Negan uses his favorite weapon -- a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat named Lucille -- to wallop Glenn all the way to his brutal demise. This is believed to be what Nicotero hinted at.

"If you read the comic book, you know we're climbing towards a major death," the EP said.

However, iDigital Times points out that while the show is loyal to the events in the source material, it sometimes interchanges the characters in those certain situations.

This means that although the blood on Lucille is that of Glenn's in the comic book version, "The Walking Dead" season 6 could end up putting another character on the receiving end.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 returns on Feb. 14 on AMC.
