'Vampire Diaries' season 6 episode 1 - Everyone's in a bad place

Just hours away from the Season 6 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries," fans of the supernatural series are gearing up. What can be expected of the new season now that every magical or supernatural creature has been exiled from Mystic Falls? Here's what followers of the series know so far:

Mystic Falls is different

Season 3 ended with a spell cast on the town of Mystic Falls. The spell removed magic in town and exiled all supernatural creatures. The spell acts like a force field keeping the creatures out. They won't be able to step into the town border anymore, but that doesn't mean supernatural things won't happen just outside the border, right?

Matt is doing his part in making Mystic Falls a safer place as well. He bulked up and joined the supernatural protection corps of Mystic Falls.

Jeremy is wasted

While Matt is being a more responsible citizen of Mystic Falls, the opposite is happening to Jeremy, who is getting out of control. According to Zap2it, Jeremy is wasted and "hooking up with random chicks" as his way to cope with the death of Bonnie.

Everyone's in a bad place, except for Stefan?

Since best friends Caroline and Elena can't stay in Mystic Falls anymore, they need to find a new place to stay. As for Bonnie and Damon, no one really knows where they are right now. But when the Other Side fell, they were left behind. Nonetheless, their spirit lives on in Mystic Falls and in their friends.

Alaric is struggling as he is still coping with becoming a vampire. Tyler is struggling because he isn't a vampire anymore. But while everyone is in a bad place and situation, Stefan seems to have luck on his side. Out of Mystic Falls, he meets a sexy lady by the name of Ivy.

There will be plenty more where that came from. Just tune into The CW for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 premiere on Oct. 2, 8 p.m.
