Samaire Armstrong may join the cast for the seventh and final season of "The Mentalist".

Tim Kang (Kimball Cho) hopes that Samaire Armstrong will agree to reprise her role as Summer Edgecombe and will come back to the series for the finale.

Tim Kang posted on Twitter that Samaire Armstrong will return as he responded to an inquiring fan: "She's on @Resurrection now. Trying to get her to come back to @Mentalist_CBS. Cho misses her." However, this suggested that there is no confirmation yet whether fans will see Summer again.

Meanwhile, Michael Ausiello of TVLine revealed "The Mentalist" season 7 spoilers when he said that, "a new woman is about to enter Patrick Jane's (professional) life."

"The CBS drama is casting the series regular role of Michelle Vega, a rookie FBI agent who is a student of combat and weaponry and is unfazed by high-pressure situations," he said.

In the final episode of "The Mentalist" season 6, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) finally admitted his feelings towards Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) before he escaped. According to season 7 spoilers, Patrick Jane's confession was the only thing that Teresa was waiting for in order to turn down Agent Pike's offer to live with him in Washington D.C.

"There's somebody who's sort of declaring themselves, and I think there's something really flattering about that. That's there on the table and it's real ... I've been inviting Jane to declare himself and he hasn't," Robin Tunney said in an interview with TVGuide.

Show's creator Bruno Heller has been quiet about any spoiler for the series' final season. However, he told The Hollywood Reporter that the team wants to provide proper closure to the romance of the two protagonists. The two can decide the course of their personal relationship now that Red John is dead.

"The purpose of an encore is to get people leaving the theater happy and giving them what they want and hitting your marks as strong as possible, so that will be the intention," Heller told THR.
