The Faith of Bartimaeus

"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
(Mark 10:51)

The faith of Bartimaeus. Though Bartimaeus was the one that was a blind and couldn’t see, he still met Christ. Isn’t this remarkable?

He was the one that had nothing to boast about his life, the one who was blind and a beggar, but he still met Christ. This story should be one that gives us encouragement and joy.

Through looking at Bartimaeus and applying his story to our life we can gain a better focus. How was Bartimaeus able to meet Christ? How was he able to see?

He was thankful for his precious ears that could hear.

We tend to focus on our negative points, and grumble to the Lord – Why can’t I see?

But instead of being this way, let us resemble the image of Bartimaeus and praise God for our ears that can hear his Words!

Through looking at his image, we wish to be the ones with greater determination to meet Christ. Bartimaeus never lost this hope of meeting Christ even in the position of not being able to see.

We wish to be more grateful for the blessings we have rather than despairing of the things we lack.
