Liz Keen (Megan Boone) faked her own death just to get away from Red (James Spader), but he will still be the one to save her in "The Blacklist" season 4.

It was revealed at the end of season 3 that Liz asked Kate Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) to help her fake her death by asking her doctor to put her in a deep coma after she gave birth to her daughter Agnes. She did it because she wanted to disassociate herself from Red so she can finally find out the truth about her identity on her own.

But Liz's plan backfired when she was kidnapped by Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), who claimed that he is her father. This will prompt Red and her husband Tom (Ryan Eggold) to rescue her in the upcoming season.

Based on the exclusive trailer released by Entertainment Weekly, Red will finally find out where Kirk brought Liz. But it will not be easy for him to rescue her, since Kirk will do everything to keep her on her side. Red was also seen asking her team at the FBI to work with him in order to save Liz and bring her back to her family.

Kirk's claims of being Liz's father will also be addressed in the upcoming season. Executive producers Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath told EW that the sudden appearance of Kirk in Liz's life will tackled in season 4.

"All of the things that you would point to and add up on one side of the ledger that might discount this guy's story about his being her father, we are responsible for next year and in years to come to incorporate it into the story that we've already told," Eisendrath said.

Bokenkamp also reiterated that the real relationship between Liz and her abductor will be explained next season. "What I do promise is that Alexander Kirk and his relationship to Liz will ultimately give us a far deeper understanding of Red's relationship to Liz in season 4."

"The Blacklist" season 4 premieres on NBC on Sept. 22.
