'Teen Wolf' season 6 air date, spoilers: Dylan O'Brien is returning for new season

Dylan O'Brien will return as Stiles in "Teen Wolf" season 6MTV

Dylan O'Brien will be appearing in "Teen Wolf" season 6 after all. His fellow "Teen Wolf" star Melissa Ponzio, who plays Melissa McCall in the series, confirmed his return.

On Twitter, she revealed that O'Brien was able to film his scenes in "Teen Wolf" season 6 before he had the accident on the set of his upcoming film "Maze Runner 3: The Scorch Trials."

Just like fans, the cast and crew of "Teen Wolf" will be waiting for O'Brien's recovery. Whether or not this will cause a delay is unknown for now.

"Teen Wolf" season 6 is expected to premiere this month, seeing that the previous seasons aired the same month in previous years.

However, June is about to end and there's still no word when the gang from Beacon Hills will be back on the small screen. Whether or not this has to do with waiting for the full recovery of O'Brien remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, even though O'Brien is yet to be back on the set of "Teen Wolf" season 6, the show is looking for a photo double for the actor.

Oddly enough, one casting notice seeks someone who looks like Stiles from the first season of "Teen Wolf," where he sported a buzz cut. The second casting notice hints that the show needs a photo double that has the look of current "Teen Wolf" Stiles.

It remains to be seen if these casting notices are meant to be separate or not. According to reports, the successful aspirant for the first search will appear in "Teen Wolf" season 6 in a flashback scene.

Media outlets also emphasize the fact that the casting wants someone who "must look like" O'Brien. While this is often the top requirement for photo doubles, some reports hinted that this is a measure being taken by the show to somehow make up for O'Brien's absence.

"Teen Wolf" season 6 is expected to premiere later this year.
