Tearfund Appoints New Chief Executive

UK’s Christian relief and development agency Tearfund has appointed a new Chief Executive, Matthew Frost, the former head of strategy at the Department for Education and Skills.

He will take up his new leadership role on 10th October 2005 to guide Tearfund’s global vision. As Chief Executive, he will oversee more than 800 staff working in Teddington and across the world.

Frost had also worked with international relief organisation Medair in Somalia and Afghanistan. In Somalia, he had managed the finances and led three public health teams working across the North East of the country. In Afghanistan, he established and directed Medair’s aid programme.

“Tearfund is an exceptional charity, highly successful and respected in its field, gifted with clear strengths, pursuing a distinctive and crucial mission,” said Frost.

Frosts’ new appointment was welcomed by David White, Chairman of Tearfund, who said, "Matthew is committed to seeing the love of Christ, in all its fullness, demonstrated to the poor.
