'Sweet moments outweigh the tough' in having a newborn, says Bethany Hamilton

First-time parents Bethany Hamilton and her husband Adam Dirks sure had a lot to learn when their son Tobias came into the world, but the learning experience has been quite a pleasurable experience for the athletic Christian couple.

On her Instagram page (@bethanyhamilton), the "Soul Surfer" shared another family photo and captioned it: "Well most of us have heard how tough the first two months with a newborn are especially the first child. Adam and I can attest to that! It's been a huge challenge these last two months. Good thing the sweet moments outweigh the tough. I can just sit there and admire how adorable our lil guy is and be filled with love for him..."

One of the sacrifices Hamilton made during her pregnancy was to give up surfing—a sport she is extremely passionate about. But now that she has gotten the hang of motherhood and Tobias has decided to give his mother some alone time, Hamilton immediately went to the water and surfed her heart out.

"So so so stoked to be back surfing!" she shared. "I had my first surf about ten days ago since giving birth to Tobias! That was the longest time I've ever not surfed since I started as a grommet."

However, Hamilton admitted that it took quite sometime for her to get her surfing groove back. "My first session felt so odd and it took about 5 sessions to start feeling normal on my board. The water feels so gooood!!!" she shared.

Hamilton is also keen on getting her post-baby weight back, so she started running again. "Getting my booty back into shape with some hill runs this morning!" she said.
