"Supernatural" season 11 is coming to a close and in the most recent episodes it was revealed that Chuck (Rob Benedict) was God and was ready to intervene and help the Winchester brothers battle the Darkness aka God's sister, Amara (Emily Swallow). That battle is set to take place in the season 11 finale, titled "Alpha and Omega."

According to a report from Cartermatt, the synopsis for the finale reveals that God will make a decision on what he should do with Amara, who has spent a majority of the season causing trouble for Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).

Episode 22 saw God explaining that He would allow the angels to pick their side in the battle, either with Him on the side of Light or with Amara on the side of Darkness, mirroring the events in ancient history. However, given that the synopsis reveals that God and his side of Light will most definitely win and take Amara custody.

The synopsis further reveals that whatever decision God makes in regards to Amara's fate it will also affect the Winchester brothers. It is stated that there will be direct repurcussions against the brothers and this may lead into the series of events propelling the confirmed season 12.

However, the story of season 12 may see a significant shift from the previous seasons of the show as a report from TV Line confirms that longtime showrunner Jeremy Carver is stepping down and will be replaced by Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer.

It is pointed out that this may not mean the structure of season 12 will deviate too far from what the upcoming season 11 finale has set up given that Carver, Singer and Dabb have all been working on "Supernatural" since its early seasons. Singer in particular has been on since season 1.

The "Supernatural" season 11 finale will air this May 25.
