'Super Smash Bros.' new patch 1.1.0 update unlocks Wii U, 3DS versions, brings new add-on items

Nintendo has recently updated its brawler title, "Super Smash Bros." The new patch, update 1.1.0, unlocks new content for both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the battle royale game. Aside from add-on items, the update also introduces new features for both platforms.

Once the new patch is installed for the base game, players gain access to new stages for the fights, as well as new Mii character costumes from other Nintendo titles like "Donkey Kong Country" and "Animal Crossing."

One of the new items in the update is the free K.K. Slider costume. This item is specific to Gunner types, which transforms fighters into the "Animal Crossing" mainstay. The costume also comes with an energy blaster in the shape of Slider's guitar.

Meanwhile, players can opt to purchase newer Mii costumes from the eShop, which include two additional Gunner-type Mii gears, the Bear Suit set and Samus Armor; King K. Rool and Flying Man from "Earthbound" for brawlers; and Lloyd from "Tales of Symphonia," Black Knight, and Chrom from "Fire Emblem Awakening" for sword fighters.

Aside from the new Mii costume sets, patch 1.1.0 also brings improvements to two favorite stages, Peach's Castle and Hyrule Castle. The much-improved stages taken from the original N64 title can now be purchased online for $2 each. The stages are also available as part of a combo costume-and-levels pack for $10 per platform, or $15 for the two combo pack versions.

Meanwhile, the update also tweaks each character's stats and fight moves, noted by some hardcore fans in a Reddit thread. In addition, some fans claim that the new patch, while balancing character stats and introducing gameplay fixes, also has a glitch to the Mii sword fighters using the Lloyd set, giving gamers the chance for an infinite combo. Although unconfirmed, the glitch seems to sound like the one found on the disc-exclusive character, Robin.
