There might be a new addition to the ever-growing list of "Super Smash Bros 4" character DLC.

WayForward Technologies' creative director Matt Boson, responsible for developing the "Shantae" platform video game, tweeted early last month that the young half-genie heroine may be included in the list of characters in "Super Smash Bros 4." But Boson's post did not confirm if the popular Game Boy Color game character will be one of the new characters that will be introduced this month, alongside Lucas from "Mother 3."

Nintendo is still silent about the possible addition of Shantae in the best-selling fighting game developed by Bandai Namco, but the character's popularity can pave the way for the game developers to consider bringing her to the game soon.

Meanwhile, Geek Snack spotted a post from the official Super Smash Bros UK website that mentioned the upcoming release of the K.K. Slider, a special DLC costume for Mii Fighters that is allegedly inspired by the "Animal Crossing" franchise. This costume DLC will join the Mewtwo character DLC that was released in April, as well as the upcoming Lucas character DLC this month. However, the release date for the said K.K. Slider costume downloadable expansion pack is still unannounced at the moment.

The highly-popular "Super Smash Bros." for Nintendo 3Ds and Wii U was released in 2014, and it features characters from different titles under the different Nintendo franchises, including "Pokemon," "Mario," "The Legend of Zelda," "Kirby," as well as "Metroid."

Other characters in the game come from third-party franchises, such as "Pac-Man," "Mega Man," as well as "Sonic the Hedgehog." If Shantae will indeed join the pack, she will be one of the third-party characters that will be featured in the fighting game through an upcoming downloadable content.
