'Suits' season 6 release date: Series continuation may premiere in June 2016

USA Network

"Suits" season 5 still has one episode left, yet parent company USA Network has already greenlit a sixth season. No official premiere date for season 6 has yet been announced, but it is highly speculated that it will debut by June 2016.

According to When-Will.net, the very first season premiered on June 23, 2011, and the season followed a Thursday show schedule. "Suits" now airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST, with season 5 premiering on June 24. Unless the show suddenly changes its showtime, it is highly likely that it will retain this pattern for season 6.

If the pattern is kept, then it is possible that "Suits" season 6 will premiere on June 22, 2016, which falls on Wednesday. There is a chance that the premiere will be given a 90-minute premiere similar to the one given to season 5. In addition, the network is unlikely to change its schedule and instead bump succeeding shows to give "Suits" priority.

This is evident in the statement made by NBC Universal Cable Entertainment CCO and Universal Cable Productions President Jeff Wachtel back in July, when the network officially announced that season 6 is moving forward.

"'Suits' has delivered a smart and sexy roller coaster ride for five seasons," said Wachtel. "[Creator] Aaron Korsh has some great surprises for the audience at the end of Season 5 that should really set future seasons on an exciting new course."

USA Network has yet to confirm whether they are indeed keeping their Wednesday showtime for "Suits" and give an official premiere date for season 6, but these announcements are still months off as season 5 is just hitting its finale. More details will emerge once production begins for season 6.

The finale episode for "Suits" season 5, titled "Faith," will air this Wednesday, Aug. 26.
