"Evil Dead" will continue haunting the horror movie's fans and viewers when Starz brings the classic franchise to the small screen next year.  Starz ordered a 10-episode series that will feature Bruce Campbell's iconic character Ash Williams in the new show that will be called "Ash vs Evil Dead." 

"When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons — personal and literal," the premium cable network said in an announcement on Nov. 10. "Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its 'Evil' grip." 

Original franchise creator Sam Raimi will be writing and directing the premiere episode of the series, and he will take on the role of executive produce together with Rob Tapert and Campbell. In a press release, Raimi expressed his excitement over the TV adaptation of his legendary horror movie franchise. 

"Evil Dead has always been a blast.  Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash's lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his 'boomstick,' Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there's a truckload of it," the director said. 

Campbell is also excited to reprise his role as Ash, who was initially introduced in 1981. He promised to give a lot of action-packed but funny antics that his role was known for. 

The "Evil Dead" franchise began with the first film in 1981, and it was followed by "Evil Dead II" in 1987. The third installment titled "Army of Darkness" was released in theaters in 1992, while the most recent film titled "Evil Dead" was shown in cinemas in 2013. 

The TV series is expected to be launched sometime in 2015. It will be written by Raimi, Ivan Raimi, as well as Tom Spezialy.
