The highly-anticipated "Rogue One Scarif" downloadable content (DLC) for "Star Wars Battlefront" is rumored to be released much earlier than expected.

New reports suggest that the launch of the expansion pack based on the upcoming spinoff, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," will coincide with the release of the film this December.

Electronic Arts, however, pointed out that the "Star Wars Battlefront" DLC will be available early next year. The company has not released an official statement about a change in the schedule.

From the looks of it, EA is more inclined on waiting until the "Rogue One" film is no longer in theaters before they come out with the "Rogue One Scarif" DLC.

After all, Disney, which owns the "Star Wars" franchise, did not approve of single-player content inspired by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to be added to "Star Wars Battlefront."

For now, fans will have to wait for official information from EA about their plans for the "Rogue One Scarif" DLC for "Star Wars Battlefront."

In related news, it turns out that the DLC will not be the only "Rogue One" experience fans will get in "Star Wars Battlefront."

Although "Rogue One Scarif" might not arrive this year, the "Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission" for the game will. It will be released this holiday season exclusively for the PlayStation VR, and those who have a copy of "Star Wars Battlefront" will get it for free.

"Among the holiday lineup [for PSVR] is one of the most incredible gaming experiences ever conceived — the opportunity to battle against the evil Empire in an X-wing fighter in VR," PlayStation Network senior VP Eric Lempel said.

He called the "Star Wars Battlefront" Virtual Reality mission as "an iconic experience like this is worth bragging about."

The official description reads: "Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission will immerse players in the cockpit of an X-wing to carry out an important mission for the Rebellion. This all-new mission is related to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and will have players dog-fighting through the far reaches of space."

Players will need the game, of course, in addition to the PSVR and the PS Camera to be able to fully experience the "Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission" DLC.
