According to reports, Sony is set to launch two new devices this week, the Xperia M5 and C5 Ultra. Aside from the new lineups however, there are also speculations that by next month, Sony will also release a new flagship — the Xperia Z5.

The rumors that the next-in-line flagship of Sony will be launched in September seem to have some truth to it. Reportedly, both Samsung and Apple are releasing their respective premium flagships, the Galaxy Note 5 and the next iPhone, by next month. Additional reports place each competitor's release to be done at this year's IFA event in Berlin. Thus, Sony's Xperia Z series, reportedly the crown jewel of the current flagship lineup with its high-specs hardware and premium build, is needed to compete with these flagship devices.

In addition to competing with other flagship products, Sony has been known to launch a new Z smartphone in September of each year, with the original Z1 launched at the 2013 IFA, and the Z3 during last year's event. Although the most recent Z smartphone, the Z4, was launched only early this year, the device is only limited to the Japan market, and Sony will most likely use this year's IFA to launch a global Z5 presence.

Since the upcoming Z5 is lined up as Sony's premium flagship, the device is expected to come out using high-spec parts under the hood, with a premium look and feel to boot. Rumor has it that the Z5 will come out with a 5.2-inch Full HD display with next-gen Gorilla Glass, a Snapdragon 820 chipset with at least 3 or even 4 GB of RAM, and the staple for every Xperia handset, a good-tech camera coming in at 20.7 MP for the main shooter and an upped 8 MP front camera.
