Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra release date nears as company offers Z Ultra discounts

Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the predecessor of the soon-to-be released Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra phablet.

The highly-anticipated Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra release date may happen soon as the Japanese company is now selling the current Z Ultra for less. Consumers can get the Sony Xperia Z Ultra for $299 in Sony Stores. Buyers can simply come and get the device without any catch or fine print.

Sony joins other companies in offering year-end and holiday discounts. And when companies offer discounts, it signals the advent of new devices. Moreover, it is a perfect strategy for selling off the remaining stocks of the device in order to maximize the profits before the release of a new device that will surely push aside its predecessor.

Meanwhile, the next generation Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra is reported to be released alongside the company's flagship smartphone – the Sony Xperia Z4. The two high-end smartphones will welcome 2015 with a bang as both will be announced at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show 2015 slated in January.

The Xperia Z4 Ultra is predicted to come with a thinner profile, a 5.9-inch qHD Triluminos display, a Snapdragon 805 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera and 3.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 3300 mAh battery. The handset will be the company's entry to the phablet category and will battle head on with Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge. The Sony Xperia Z4, on the other hand, is said to have almost the same specs and features but with a slightly smaller 5.4-inch qHD Triluminos display. Both devices will reportedly run with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, and will also be water-resistant and dustproof like previous Sony devices.

However, the Japanese OEM manufacturer has offered no comment regarding the aforementioned rumors yet. Thus, consumers should wait until the company announces the official details of the devices.
