Sony Lavender release date, specs rumors: no bezels in new leaked images

Live photos of the alleged Sony Lavender surfaced recently, seemingly confirming the rumors claiming that the next handset from the Japan-based tech giant will go for little to no bezels, and it looks like something that came out of futuristic concepts of artists longing to see a bezel-less smartphone.

The leaked images, which were allegedly taken from one of Sony's production units, also bear the look as outlined in the renderings that made the rounds not too long ago. The lack of bezels allows for larger display and a unique, ultra-modern design.

Sony has yet to comment on the prevailing leaks and rumors about their current project. It is believed that the company is preparing the Sony Lavender for its official unveiling next month although this remains uncorroborated.

Along with the eyed release date is a specs sheet detailing what the device will be all about aside from its bezel-free body. There is still no word on the handset's display size but whatever the size is, it is said to render a 1080p resolution. To power up the device is a MediaTek MT6752 chipset, which pairs up with a 1.7 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU. The Sony Lavender will also make use of 2 GB RAM, according to speculations. It remains unknown what storage options the device will provide but it is said that there won't be a microSD slot.

On the camera department is a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor, which should do a great job at taking high-resolution photos, coupled with a selfie-centric 5-megapixel shooter with LED flash, which was clearly shown in the leaked images.

Sony is expected to lift the veil off the Sony Lavender during its press event scheduled next month. Whether it will be introduced as a new Xperia flagship or an offshoot to other devices such as the C4, which bears closest resemblance to it, remains to be seen.
