Sony Pictures recently announced that the "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" has been set for a 2018 release, while "The Sinister Six" is expected to premiere in 2016. The latter is a separate spinoff centered on Spider-Man's known villains.

Andrew Garfield, who has played the role of Spider-Man in the first two installments of the series, has opened up about coming back to reprise his role. In an interview with The Toronto Sun, the 31-year-old actor talked about the "Sinister Six" movie and his anticipation of having Drew Goddard take on directorial duties for the said film.

"I know more than I'm allowed to say right now," Garfield commented. "I can say I'm really excited about Drew Goddard, who's going to be writing and directing The Sinister Six movie. And whether I'm involved in that or not is kind of immaterial."

While Emma Stone's boyfriend did not reveal much, he cited Goddard's highly popular film and his directorial debut, 2012's "The Cabin in the Woods", and remained tight-lipped if he will be involved.

"I don't know if I should say anything right now," Garfield said. "But Drew is really exciting. Did you see Cabin in the Woods? Did you like it? Hence, me not telling you s--- about that."

Although no cast details have been announced yet, the villain lineup for "Sinister Six" includes the Green Goblin, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, and Vulture, as reported by IB Times.

Spider-Man's antagonist in the first film, The Lizard, remains locked up and have been in talks with an unknown man who is apparently enlisting the six villains to build a team. Fans will also catch a glimpse of The Rhino, who appeared in the second installment released this year.

It remains an unconfirmed rumor, however, that Garfield will be returning as Spider-Man in a movie filled with bad guys without having to be the main star.

The "Sinister Six" movie has been slotted for an official release on Nov. 6, 2016.
