The British Broadcasting Corporation One's hit drama "Sherlock" will return in two years, but the show won't make fans wait that long for a dose of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

Before season four premieres in 2016, BBC One will release a "Sherlock Christmas Special."

Shooting for the show is postponed due to the actors' availability leading to the long wait for the season four premiere. Benedict Cumberbatch plays consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman plays Sherlock's partner and friend John Watson.

Producer Sue Vertue told Radio Times that they are working on the dates already.

"We're working on it. We're working on dates," she said.  Co-producer Steven Moffat added: "We'll get them made as quickly as we can."

Co-creator and co-show runner Mark Gatiss confirmed this as well, saying "[We] moved significantly closer to getting a date in the diary for series four." Gatiss plays "Mycroft Holmes" in the detective drama.

Aside from the good news about the release date and getting cast members together, there is other good news. There's a chance that Sherlock Holmes' arch nemesis will return.

Jim Moriarty is the perfect antagonist for Sherlock and bringing him back will surely be a crowd-pleaser. According to rumors, Moriarty will return because of his obsession with Sherlock.

Andrew Scott, who plays Moriarty, shared his surprise over how fans are making a more romantic connection between his character and Sherlock.

He told Attitude Magazine: "Oh my god, it's the drawings and the photos! It's mostly women doing it... I think it's done by librarians."

He also shared what Moriarty's relationship with Sherlock is really like.

"Well, they are absolutely obsessed with each other," Scott said. "There has to be a line. In the words of Erasure, I love to hate you."
