It is indicated on his online CV, spotted by "Sherlock" fansite Setlock, shows that he will be appearing in the "Sherlock" season 4 premiere. At the moment, there are no details on what he will be up to in the episode.

Joining Holmes in the guest stint is "Doctor Who" alum Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, who will also be featured in the first episode of the new season. The actor broke the news on his Twitter account.

"Proud to be part Sherlock as well as Doctor Who. All I need now is Game of Thrones and I've got the set," Hoffmann-Gill quipped in his post accompanied by a photo of the script.

He also revealed there that he auditioned for the part but he did not go into detail as to what role he will play in the "Sherlock" season 4 premiere. He did thank his fans for the support and excitement they showed about his latest gig.

"Sherlock" season 4 went into production early this month. Co-creator Mark Gatiss has been keeping fans up to date on Twitter by throwing around puns about Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman back on set.

Describing the new season, which will take longer to arrive, Gatiss and co-creator and co-executive producer Steven Moffat said in an official statement that they are back in Baker Street, with Cumberbatch promising that it will be worth the wait.

Here's a description of "Sherlock" season 4 by Gatiss and Moffat:

Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson bringing adventure, romance and terror in their wake. This is the story we've been telling from the beginning. A story about to reach its climax...

"Sherlock" season 4 premieres some time in 2017.
