Memorial services are being held across the UK on Friday to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of Princess Diana.

Members of the Royal family, with the exception of Prince Charles's second wife Camilla, will take part in a service at the Guards' Chapel, near Buckingham Palace.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Sir Elton John, who sang at Diana's funeral, will also be in attendance at the hour-long service, beginning midday and conducted by the Rev Patrick Irwin.

Diana's favourite hymn, I Vow to Thee, My Country, will be the last of four to feature in the service, at which two prayers written by the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams will also be said.

Her sons, Princes William and Harry, will lead readings in tribute to their mother, and later on in the service, the Bishop of London, the Rt Rev Richard Chartres, will give an address.

Events to mark the 10 years since Diana's death will also take place in Manchester, Bristol, Aberdeen and Cardiff.

Flowers, photographs and messages of sympathy have been left at the gates of Kensington Palace, the Princess's London residence.

Princess Diana was just 36 when she died alongside her partner, Dodi al-Fayed, in a high-speed car crash in Paris in 1997.

Friday's service will be broadcast live on TV.
