A new series of training events run by Scripture Union in England and Wales will allow church leaders to polish their skills in working with children and young people.

The 14-date tour is expected to offer anyone working with children and young people a chance to discover new ideas and techniques for their groups, network with other local workers and discuss individual needs with a professional trainer.

Workshops during the tour include 'How to support children in difficult situations', 'Exploring fresh expressions of worship', 'Tips for running mid-week groups', 'Families', 'Youth' and 'All-age worship'.

The tour is also celebrating the 60th anniversary of Scripture Union's published resources.

Sarah Jackson, Youth Co-ordinator at Penrallt Baptist Church, who attended the Bangor leg of the tour said: "I came away with a great sense of being affirmed, and reminded and encouraged that as children and youth workers we are not child-minding but engaged in the vital task of sharing the love of Jesus.

"There was a real sense of celebration and it was wonderful to be with people from other churches facing similar issues and receive practical advice."

Events will be held in Wellington, Stockport, Milton Keynes, Orpington, London, and Gateshead.
