'Scream Queens' season 2 release date spoilers: Chanel and Hester take a wild turn

Fox

"Scream Queens" season 1 ended with Chanel (Emma Roberts) and the girls all framed up and convicted, being sent to a mental institution while the real Red Devil, Hester (Lea Michelle), was running rampant. According to a report from E! Online, season 2 will up the ante and both Chanel and Hester will be even wilder than before.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed that season 2 will be a lot darker in tone and presentation than season 1, particularly due to the fact that season 2 is now set in a mental institute. According to Curtis, the sharp objects, dark hallways and hospital rooms all provide ample material for a very dark and scary season.

"We're adding some incredible new cast members that you'll find out about soon. It's going to be fun, it's going to be wild. We haven't even read a script yet though, so we actually don't know what's going to happen," explained lead actress Emma Roberts.

This was further confirmed by Lea Michele, who stated she has not yet officially read any script and was not sure how the series could get any darker than it already was. But she did state she was prepared to do whatever series creator Ryan Murphy had planned for the show and her character, Hester aka the Red Devil.

A report from MStar News points out that the scares might start right from the premiere episode of season 2 given how season 1 ended. The first season finished on a cliffhanger, with Chanel in the mental institute right as the camera cut with her screaming in fear from something or someone possibly attempting to kill her.

"Scream Queens" season 2 has no official premiere date as of the time of writing but it is scheduled to premiere by the fall. Fans speculate it will premiere by late September, similar to the release window of the first season.
