Is there hope for Olivia Pope and President Fitzgerald when "Scandal" returns for its fifth season?

At the end of season 4, fans of the show saw the U.S. president throwing out his first lady Millie (Bellamy Young) out of the White House, and Jake (Scott Foley) finally let go of Olivia (Kerry Washington) so that she can start a new life with Fitz (Tony Goldwyn). Will the star-crossed lovers finally reunite to start a new life together?

But aside from the romantic future of the president and his former director of communications, the White House is still hounded by a lot of threats. Venture Capital Post stated that with her promotion as the new White House Chief of Staff, Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi) will do everything in her power to make Mellie and Cyrus' (Jeff Perry) lives miserable.

In a recent interview, de Rossi revealed a few details about what her character will be up to in the upcoming season.

"She was tired of getting kicked around. She was sick of being Mellie's dog, someone who fetches whatever she wants. It was payback time for Lizzie Bear. She had enough, so she made a big bold power move," the actress stated.

On the other hand, Guillermo Diaz also talked with TV Line recently to discuss whether his character Huck can still work with Olivia as a Gladiator after viewers found out that he is working for Olivia's ruthless father Rowan Pope (Joe Morton). According to Diaz, he still has no idea if he will stay with Olivia's team and if his guilt will not get the most out of him. He also said that he would not want Huck to be the one to confess to Olivia about his treachery, and he would rather keep the secret for as long as possible. The actor also shared that he is still unsure if Huck will return next season, since series creator Shonda Rhimes reportedly revised the original script.

"Scandal" season 5 is slated to return on ABC this fall.
