Samsung Galaxy F release date is reported to be on Aug. 13 and the handset will be available for purchase a month after to counter Apple's iPhone 6.

Samsung Galaxy F, also dubbed as Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy Alpha, is reported to be a premium and upgraded version of the current Samsung flagship smartphone – Galaxy S5. The handset is reported to be launched a month before the release of the rumored iPhone 6 to take a bite on Apple's sales.

ETNews reported that the device will be named Samsung Galaxy Alpha, which is a full metal smartphone with a 4.7-inch AMOLED display, Samsung Exynos Octa 5 chipset and will be powered by the new Snapdragon 805 processor introduced in the Galaxy S5 LTE-A.

Reports state that Samsung's decision to encase the smartphone in a metal housing is to battle with iPhone 6, which long boasts its aluminum casing that fans fancied.

It was initially speculated that the Samsung Galaxy F will be released alongside the company's phablet Galaxy Note 4 at the upcoming IFA 2014 event in Berlin. However, Samsung has not confirmed any of these rumors.

Last week, a new image emereged, courtesy of reliable tipster and leaker @evleaks. The image also showed that the upcoming device will have a slimmer bezel compared to the current Samsung Galaxy S5. Evan Blass posted a number of Samsung Galaxy F photos in the past months.

Moreover, the purported specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy F are scarce and are still unconfirmed. Some of the rumored features of the handset are: quad HD display, a 16-megapixel front camera and the Snapdragon 805 chip with LTE-A speeds boosting it to 225Mbps. Reports pointed that the device will be available in two color options. Although the only clue that waiting Samsung fans have is that the handset will have high end specs and features.
