Samsung Galaxy A8 specs rumors: Slim body measures 5.9 mm

A new report from GSM Arena says the Samsung Galaxy A8 smartphone has been advertised in a brochure in the company's homeland, South Korea.

New images were reportedly leaked online by nowhereelse.fr last month along with rumored specs and features. The release date for the phone is expected to take place in the third quarter of this year, according to earlier reports.

The brochure confirms earlier rumors that the new Samsung Galaxy A8 will sport a 5.9 mm slim body, the thinnest of all of Samsung's current handset devices.

The list of specs also confirms that the Samsung Galaxy A8 will come with a 16 mega pixel camera on the back with f/1.9 aperture. The handset will sport a 5.66 inch Super AMOLED display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Under the hood, it is confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy A8 will be powered by a whopping 3050 mAh battery along with an unknown chipset. Earlier reports have suggested that the chipset would be Qualcomm's MSM8939 Snapdragon 615, coupled by a quad-core 1.4 GHz cortex-A53, a quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 and Adreno 405.

In addition, the Galaxy A8 will run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and will have 2 GB RAM and an expandable 32 GB internal memory storage. The internal memory can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 will support LTE Cat. 6 with VoLTE, according to GSM Arena. Earlier rumors said the colors available for the phone were midnight black, pearl white and champagne gold.

The brochure doesn't mention anything about when the phone will be released and how much it will cost. However, it is now confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy A8 does exist.

Samsung's Galaxy  product line includes the Galaxy S high-end smartphones, the Galaxy Tab tablets, the Galaxy Note tablets and phablets with the added functionality of a stylus, and the first version of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
