Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has opened up about his faith and his relationship with his girlfriend, Ciara. At an appearance at The Rock Church on Sunday, July 5, he talked about his relationship with the singer and said that she's everything that he ever wanted. He revealed that he told somebody that he wanted to be with Ciara even before he met her.

When Wilson was asked how he intends to move forward with his relationship while remaining faithful to his promises to God, he said that God spoke to him and told him to "lead" Ciara.

"She was on tour and I was looking at her in the mirror, and she was sitting there," he recalled. "And God spoke to me and said, 'I need you to lead her.' And I was like, 'Really? Right now?'"

After which, Wilson said that he asked his girlfriend what she would do if they "took all that extra stuff off the table." The "extra stuff," he explained, was sex.

"If you can really love someone without that then you can really love somebody," Wilson said.

The football player said that Ciara, who has a one-year old son with her former fiancĂ©, rapper Fortune, is a believer and a follower of Jesus and she agreed with his proposal that they abstain from physical intimacy.

Wilson said that both he and the singer experienced heartbreak in their lives and that God brought them together. Wilson's marriage to his high school sweetheart ended in divorce in April 2014.

"For me, I knew that God had brought me in her life to bless her and for her to bless me," he said.

He added that they are not perfect by any means, but God has anointed both of them and is calling them to do something special.

Wilson and Ciara have been dating since April and attended a dinner at the White House together.
