Although the Adult Swim show "Rick and Morty" is confirmed to get season 3, not much is known about the upcoming series. The creative team behind the new season however, teases that the new show is "worth the wait."

Answering a fan query, show writer Mike McMahan announced that fans should relax and just wait patiently for the new season of "Rick and Morty." Although not disclosing specific details, the writer quipped, "... it's our best season and worth the wait. Greatness takes time."

An expected development in season 3 of the show is that it will answer the questions for the previous episodes of "Rick and Morty," and the creative team also addressed this. Co-creator Dan Harmon has teased that the season will continue where the last show left off, and that fans will not be left hanging in the events in season 2. However, the whole season 3 will not be focused at answering the cliffhangers for the previous season, and will instead diverge to new adventures.

Speaking at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Harmon stated, "I don't think anybody wants to do a third season that simply spends a whole bunch of episodes dealing with a situation that we created at the end of the second season. So I think that's a non-spoiler way of saying things should be okay pretty quickly."

Meanwhile, although confirmed spoilers for the new season have yet to surface, it is already revealed that season 3 will be the longest run for the show, having 14 episodes. According to industry followers, the longer production time may be why the new season has yet to have a release date.

The original run for "Rick and Morty" ended at 11 episodes, while season 2 was cut down to 10.

"Rick and Morty" season 3 is expected to premiere later this year on Adult Swim, though a specific show date has yet to be confirmed.
